Few moments in American history are as memorable as the Battle of Little Big Horn. And few stops on your journey will be as memorable as a visit to the Custer Battlefield Trading Post & Café. The Thompson family has made this store a labor of love since 1985. The store has a great selection of handmade Indian beadwork, Montana Made gifts, Custer collectibles, relics, and other collectibles. Mention this web site and they’ll give you a free arrowhead. And where else are you going to find Indian Tacos? These delectables are made on Indian frybread with a meat, bean and spice combination filling with lettuce, tomatoes and salsa on the side. These folks love to cook good food and have had the same head cook since 1988. They have hand-crafted pies and soups and prepare handcrafted buffalo burgers. Their summer restaurant hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. In the winter they are open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

While you’re in the neighborhood, swing up the road to historic Garryowen and visit the Custer Battlefield Museum. It sits at Sitting Bull’s camp where the Battle of the Little Big Horn began. View their collections of the Custer battle. A highlight is the D.F. Barry photographic collection of the western frontier and Indian wars.
