Fort Harrison is located on the west side of Helena, off of Hwy 12.

The Montana Military Museum is a United States Army Museum activity in accordance with an authorization granted by the U.S. Army Center of Military History in 1984. As an authorized activity, the Montana National Guard has been able to receive, collect, warehouse, interpret, and exhibit federal and state artifacts important to the rich military heritage of Montana. The scope of collections originally based on the history of the Montana National Guard from its earliest establishment in 1866 has been expanded to include military history beginning with the Lewis & Clark Expedition of1805-06 to the present day Global War on Terror. The Museum facility is located at the Montana National Guard Training Center on historic Fort William Henry Harrison, just west of Helena, Montana. The Fort was established in 1892 and is the only remaining active army military post in Montana. The facilities include historic buildings including a visitors center, chapel, main exhibit hall, gift shop, collections management area, and a number of outside exhibits. Operating hours vary based on availability of Staff. Open Thursdays from September to May and Open Thursdays and Fridays from May to September. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Special hours and tour groups are accommodated upon request at any time.
