Whitefish, Montana: The Recreation Capital of Montana.

Whitefish is a historic railroad town, an island of culture in an ocean of mountain recreation. Glacier National Park is just 30 minutes away. Whitefish lake is at the edge of town. And we sit at the base of Big Mountain Resort, one of North America’s top 25 ski destinations.

A real Montana town in the heart of the Rocky Mountain wilderness, Whitefish combines the best of mountain small-town life. The locals, many of whom can trace their Whitefish roots back three and four generations, enjoy an easy-going, friendly, unpretentious lifestyle.

They play hard - they work hard.

The town itself reflects this ethic. A walk down wide Central Avenue reveals a vibrant mix of traditional businesses: the family shoe store, barbershop, hardware store, drugstore, and sport shops -- interspersed with mouth-watering restaurants, a variety of bars, a coffee house, a brewery, Broadway-caliber theatre, art galleries, and western shops. Like the residents, the various businesses mingle comfortably, side-by-side.

With its covered sidewalk main street leading to the cultural arts center, historic depot museum, and public library, this quaint, picturesque western town offers visitors a change from the fast-paced, hustle and bustle.
