Hathaway and Horton are both communities that sprang up along the Northern Pacific Railroad in the early part of the century. Both are located between Miles City and Forsyth along Interstate 94.
Hathaway was named for Major Hathaway, a U.S. Army officer. And like many former station stops along the railroad, now that passenger service has been discontinued and freight traffic consists mainly of long haul shipping, Hathaway and Horton are a cluster of buildings along the tracks.
